Ban Hong Xiang Tea House for Dim sum food


This morning was a slow and lazy day for us. Not sure of what to have for breakfast, we finally decided to try the dim sum food at Ban Hong Xiang Tea House. Open for business from 0530 hrs to 1230 hrs, the shop which consists of three shop lots was bustling with diners at 1000 hrs.

Fortunately for us, we managed to get a table quite soon. We were amazed at the variety of dim sum food and even though we ate quite a bit, there were still lots of dishes which we did not manage to try. Hubby loved the char siew pao that had been deep fried and managed to consume more than 5 of those!

After lunch, as we were on our way back to Arenaa De Luxe Hotel, we somehow ended up at Kampong Morten where we saw a beautiful garden and a wonderfully well kept house. We were so attracted by it that we stopped the car and went down to take a picture.

The owner, Puan Hajjah Kamarbee invited us into the house to take a look and even offered us to use the Malay wedding attire to take photos in. It was a really wonderful experience being able to see a traditional Malay kampung house. You can tell that she really kept the house in great order.

This must have been one of our best experiences in Malacca and is a great Malaysia attraction.

Located at 135A Kampung Morten, you can take a look at the house and have a chance of using the Malay wedding attire to take photos.

Next we proceeded to Jonker Walk to buy some ‘Beh The Sor’ (flaky biscuit with sticky maltose filling) from Tian Hup Seng Biscuit shop. Hubby tried this the last time and found it to be even better than Shan Shu Gong’s, thus the repeat purchase. Costing RM6 for 10 pieces, it was great value for money.

Our friend Lionel also bought a laughing Buddha statue made from white marble and with great details.

We then proceeded to Donald & Lily for some Nonya food. Located at Jalan Tan Tun Cheng Lock, Donald and Lily operate out of their home.

As we were still full from the late breakfast, we ordered the nonya chendol, tauhu rojak and mee siam to try. Admittedly the food was not too bad. However, as we have tried better food elsewhere and since we have a point of reference, we felt that Jeta Groves was better in terms of food quality especially for the chendol and the mee siam.

Next stop was Jusco where we made some purchases before returning to Arenaa De Luxe Hotel to freshen up a little and check out.

We then made our way to Scents and Senses at Melaka Raya for some traditional Thai massage. This massage place seemed to be better than yesterday’s in terms of cleanliness and hygiene. What was good was the fact that the masseuse, being Thai, could speak some English. We had a great 90 minutes of massage where the guys tried the traditional Thai massage and the ladies tried the traditional Thai herbal massage.

Scents and Senses

After the relaxing massage, we started on our journey back to Singapore. Stopping over at Yong Peng Or Hwu Restaurant, which was recommended by a friend of ours, we had our dinner there.
This is the second time that we have been to Or Hwu and we find that the food is definitely worth the price that we pay.

As we have not been to Aeon Bukit Indah before, we had to make use of our mobile Garmin global positioning system to get our directions. Alas! As this Malaysia shopping centre was only opened in December 2008, our maps were not updated. Fortunately for us, hubby had the iphone and we managed to trace the directions through the iphone.

Located in Taman Bukit Indah in the heart of Nusajaya in Johor Bahru, Aeon Bukit Indah is just fifteen minutes from Johor Bahru and less than half an hour from the Second Link which is a bonus for Singaporeans looking for a great shopping destination in Malaysia.

New and spacious, Aeon Bukit Indah shopping centre gets crowded during the weekends.

Divided according to the types of trade, it is easy to locate the shops.

Baskin Robbins Malaysia has a promotion on currently where every Wednesday is Pink Wednesday. All you have to do to get a Double Jr. Scoop ice cream at the price of a Single Scoop ice cream is to show up with something pink. In our case, we had on a pink t-shirt and a pink plastic bag. :)

Place to rest, relax & rejuvenate. Hopefully we shall have some time to try this the next time we visit Aeon Bukit Indah. We had tried their branch in Mines Shopping Centre and had a memorable time there.

Holiday travel tips:-

If you have time during the weekday and wish to do some shopping, you might want to try going to Aeon Bukit Indah as it is practically a ghost town, at least when I went there on a weekday.

If you do not have your own transport, you can catch the bus CW3 from Jurong East Interchange. Approximate travel time is 1 1/4 hours.

SuperStar Virgo Slot Tournament 1st Oct - 3rd Oct 2010

On this holiday cruise ship, we specifically went on board as two sisters-in-law were going to take part in the SuperStar Virgo slot tournament. As they were invited by SuperStar Virgo, they were each offered a free cabin, thus hubby and myself tagged along to enjoy the short holiday.

After dinner, we took a rest before accompanying sisters-in-law to the casino to give them support.

This is the last weekend cruise with a stopover in Port Klang where we could go on a shore excursion. From what we heard, future weekend cruises would revert back to the 3 days, 2 nights Cruise To Nowhere.

We hailed a cab from the Port Klang Cruise Centre to Mid-Valley Megamall to enjoy some Malaysia shopping.

We managed to buy some snacks and realised that the tidbits sold at Jusco, as seen in the picture, is much cheaper than at some other shops in Mid Valley Megamall.

We were also very fortunate as Jusco was having their J Card Privilege Shopping Day for J Card members. After dinner, once again we made our way back to the casino to support the sister-in-law who had made it to the semi-finals. Although she did not make it to the finals, but she did win overall which was good enough for us! :)
