Choco Madness Party On Board SuperStar Virgo

Whilst on board SuperStar Virgo for the 3D 2N Malacca/Port Klang trip, we attended the Choco Madness Party which was a real treat especially for chocolate and party lovers.

Held on Deck 12 by the Parthenon Pool in the open air, we had fun watching the games and entertainment.

Samurai Restaurant On Board SuperStar Virgo

Whilst on board the holiday cruise ship, SuperStar Virgo, you can still savour Japanese specialties at the Japanese restaurant on board.

We find the prices pretty reasonable and the food of a high standard, not to mention cozy ambience.

Port Klang Shore Excursion - SuperStar Virgo

SuperStar Virgo holiday cruise ship has Port Klang as one of its stopover destinations. If you opt to disembark at Port Klang, you could choose from a variety of shopping and sightseeing destinations. Pricing for each tour varies from SGD30 to SGD60 per adult.

Birthday Cruise On Board SuperStar Virgo 3 – 5 Nov 2010 Day 3

How fast time flies. Before we know it, it was already our third day on board the holiday cruise ship, Super Star Virgo, and in a few hours time, we would be disembarking.

As we had quite a lot to rich foods yesterday especially at the Choco Madness Party, we skipped breakfast and instead had a good and filling lunch after collecting our travel documents.

Holiday Travel Tips:-
Do check the time and venue to collect your travel documents. If you need assistance with your luggage, lock and leave them outside your cabin door from 1000 – 1200 hrs.

Since we still had some dining credits with the compliments from Star Cruises, we decided to have lunch at Noble House Restaurant, the Chinese a la carte restaurant on board the holiday cruise ship.

We ordered half a roasted duck and spinach with eggs in superior stock and were more than satisfied with the standard of the food. We have to admit that the food was simply yummy…..

After lunch, we collected our luggage from the cabin and proceeded to the respective waiting area for disembarkation. Expected arrival time in Singapore was approximately 1400 hrs. However, at 1340 hrs, we were able to disembark.

Malacca Shore Excursion - SuperStar Virgo Cruise

Whilst on board the SuperStar Virgo holiday cruise ship, if you are on the route that stops at Malacca, you can opt for the Malacca shore excursion. However, this is a stop which is not free and easy. You will be required to book your Malacca shore excursion before 2230 hrs the night before. This can be taken as a mini Malacca vacation with a quick overview of the town.

Duration of Malacca shore excursion:- approximately 11 hours
Time to assemble:- 0715 hrs
Price:- SGD75 adult / SGD65 child

Itinerary:-
• St. Paul’s Hill Complex – visit the Independence Memorial, Porta De Santiago and the ruins of St. Paul’s Church

• Bukit Cina – as the name implies, ‘Chinese Hill’ was the official settlement of the entourage that arrived with the Chinese Princess Hang Li Po. She was sent to Malacca by the Ming emperor to marry the Sultan, marking the advent of diplomatic relations between China and Malacca
• Hang Li Po’s Well – built by the followers of Hang Li Po, the well was the only source of water during great droughts. The Dutch enclosed it with stout walls to reserve it for their exclusive use. Today, it enjoys a reputation as a wishing well.

• Dutch Square – discover the Stadhuys, the Tan Beng Swee Clock Tower, Queen Victoria Fountain and Christ Church

• Cheng Hoon Teng Temple – one of the oldest Chinese temple in the country, it was built in 1646 with materials shipped from China. Fine workmanship is evident in the ornate decorated mythological figures, carvings, and lacquer work inside the temple
• Jonker Street – authentic artifacts and relic, some dating as far back as 300 years, can be found among a host of interesting collectibles, each with its own history and mystery

Over the years, a distinct culture called the Baba Nyonya or Peranakan culture emerged
• Photostop at the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur - one of the world’s tallest buildings

Birthday Cruise On Board SuperStar Virgo 3 – 5 Nov 2010 Day 2

Today is the scheduled shore excursion for passengers. You could either get off at Malacca or Port Klang.

However if you decide to opt for the Malacca shore excursion, you need to book the tour with Star Cruises the night before. No last minute bookings can be made since it is an Immigration requirement that all names of passengers who wish to get off at Malacca must be submitted on Wednesday night before 2230 hrs.

Holiday Travel Tips:-
If you love a historical cum sightseeing tour, the Malacca shore excursion would be a good choice.

Time to assemble:- 0715 hrs
Price:- SGD75 adult / SGD65 child

If you opt to disembark at Port Klang, you could choose from a variety of shopping and sightseeing destinations as indicated under Port Klang shore excursion. Pricing for each tour varies from SGD30 to SGD60 per adult.

Holiday Travel Tips:-
If you are more adventurous, you could save some money by hailing a cab at Port Klang Cruise Centre where Super Star Virgo will be anchored. However since KL roads are well known for heavy traffic during certain hours of the day, do give yourself extra time to get back to the holiday cruise ship by the stated time

We had an enjoyable lunch at the Bella Vista Restaurant and opted for Chinese food. Menu for the day:-

After lunch, whilst waiting to disembark for the shore excursion, we took a walk on board the holiday cruise ship.

When it was time to disembark at Port Klang at approximately 1330 hrs, we took a cab to Chow Kit area (yes, it is easy to get a cab at the Port Klang Cruise Centre) to get some items at Bake with Yen, a baking supplies shop as well as AA Pharmacy in Sri Petaling to purchase some medication.

Since we were in Sri Petaling area, we decided to have bak kut teh (pork rib soup) for dinner at 1730 hrs. As this outlet is only open in the evenings, we have not managed to try it before though we could get the aroma of the spices even though the shop is not open in the mornings when we passed by before.

We ordered a bowl of mixed ingredients, some fried tofu and a plate of green vegetables. The soup was very aromatic and strong in flavour though we would have preferred it more if there was more pepper. Price though was a little on the high end.

After dinner, we made good timing in getting back to Port Klang Cruise Centre to board the holiday cruise ship, Super Star Virgo. Scheduled departure from Port Klang was at 2130 hrs.

After unloading our shopping packages, we proceeded to the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant to enjoy some desserts such as cakes and ice cream.

Looking forward to the Choco Madness Party at the Parthenon Pool at 2230 hrs, we eagerly made our way to Deck 12 at the scheduled time. There was a special performance by the Hotel Section Heads and the Cruise staff, as well as fun and crazy games for the passengers. Needless to say, there was a lovely spread of goodies, from chocolate bits to chocolate pastries.
