Christmas Cruise On Board SuperStar Virgo Day 2 Boxing Day

Christmas Cruise Day 2 - Boxing Day

Today is the second day of our Christmas cruise on board the holiday cruise ship SuperStar Virgo. Most of the adult members of our group of 23 persons were looking forward to spending a great time on board this Star Cruise casino ship. Another group were looking forward to the karaoke singing and getting a chance to practice their vocal chords.

As our group was huge, it was better to go our separate ways as everyone had a different agenda. Mother and the casino group proceeded to Deck 8 Royale Club, the casino for gold card members and above. The teenagers went to the Arcade. Those with younger kids had other plans such as the funny face painting at Charlie’s Kids Club.

Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant

We started off the day with a late breakfast at Deck 12 Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant. With breakfast food of a wide variety, including Indian vegetarian food, there were lots to choose from. The draw of eating at the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant is that you need not wait to be served. At the same time, it is also a pork and lard free restaurant and you can help yourself to whatever your stomach desire.

Today at 1000 hrs for an hour, you could learn the basic techniques of Swedish Massage for S$10 (USD7.15) per person. We had thought of going for this session but as we were late for breakfast and we did not want to rush, it was already after 1000 hrs when we finished breakfast.

Swedish Massage Class
Pretty interesting. Hopefully we can get to participate in this when we next come on board the SuperStar Virgo again.

Here are some photographs of the Parthenon Pool on Deck 12 which we passed by when we go to the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant.

Beautiful ...

We then proceeded to the Royale Club casino to watch the other group members play Baccarat. It was fun seeing money being paid out to our group members although we still have no idea how the game is played even after watching them play a number of times.

Lunch saw us in Pavilion Chinese Restaurant on Deck 6. The soup and the fish were good. You could also help yourself to the plain porridge or sweet potato porridge with the various condiments.

In fact, we were so full that we did not even wait for the dessert. Must be because of the late breakfast.

When lunch was over, we explored the holiday cruise ship and collected our passports. Only passengers with Singapore passport documents could collect them today after 12noon.

Next we went to the Oasis casino on Deck 7 and tried our hands at the jackpot. Luck was not on our side today and we donated all that we had earned last night and some.

We decided then to get some exercise at the Universal gym on Deck 12. Here you could have a great view of the sea or the Parthenon Pool as you work out. The exercise session was followed by a short session in the steam room as well as the sauna.

Next, we went back to Royale Casino to check on the status of the group and some of our group members were still going strong but Mother was tired and had enough. We accompanied Mother in her wheelchair back to the room where she too a rest before dinner.

Since Mother was yearning for her fish noodles in Blue Lagoon, an Asian Bistro a la carte restaurant, we accompanied Mother for dinner with some other group members although we had thought of going for the BBQ Dinner on Deck 12 by the Parthenon Pool.

Dinner was good. Some of the dishes ordered include fish noodle soup, nasi lemak (coconut rice), seafood hor fun (rice noodles), chicken wings, bak kut teh, chicken rice, etc.. Prices were quite reasonable as well.

As Mother was tired, we accompanied her back to the cabin and settled her into bed before we went to Out of Africa Karaoke Room. Karaoke is a form of singing whereby amateur singers and wannabes sing along with recorded music and follow the lyrics on the television or video screen. Here some of our group members had a 2 hour karaoke singing session and tested their vocals whilst enjoying some snacks and wine. They ended up enjoying the singing session so much that they extended it by another hour.

Half way through the karaoke session, we went back to the casino to try our luck on the jackpot machines once again. However, luck certainly did not seem to be on our side. We then decided to get some supper at the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant before retiring for the night. Many friends of ours call the Star Cruise Line the 6 meals cruise. That is because you get fed breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. It is great if you have a fantastic appetite!

More food

What a day on this Star Cruise Line! Lots of food on this casino ship where we did not have much luck today. We spent this Christmas cruise eating and then working off the calories as well. The time on board this holiday cruise ship SuperStar Virgo was also spent enjoying some karaoke singing session and listening to some future Singapore idols.

  1. I enjoyed our cruise on the Norwegian Pearl to Alaska also. The food was so great, my husband and I both gained 6 pounds on the week long cruise.

  2. Hey Kathryn,
Yes, cruises are a great way to relax and since food is served 6 times a day, it is easy to put on weight. :)
