Malaysia Beach Resort – Summerset Resort Kuala Rompin Day 2

Malaysia Beach Resort – Summerset Resort Kuala Rompin Day 2

Summerset Resort - a Malaysia beach resort done in colonial style

Day 2 in this lovely Malaysia beach resort started off on a lazy tone. After spending the most part of last night discussing about the arrangements for the awakening enlightenment meditation and sleeping at almost 0300 hrs, we woke up late this morning. Our friends were excitedly looking forward to going back to Rompin Seafood Village, the fresh seafood restaurant, for more crabs again tonight.

The day started off by us having another discussion regarding the awakening enlightenment meditation retreat that we are expecting to hold this November. This is unlike the meditation retreats that you hear so much about these days. There were four of us who participated in the awakening enlightenment meditation retreat also known as “The Opening” in the Rocky Mountains in April of 2009. As we found it so profound and having developed a deep desire to share a passion of truth and freedom with all people seeking more success and happiness in their lives, we decided to work with our master to bring the program into Asia. As such, this would be the first time such meditation retreats will be held in Asia and it will definitely not be the last.

The Opening -

The Opening is a 5-day ancient enlightenment contemplation retreat so amazing, you’ll be left speechless.

Awakening enlightenment is the pursuit of the most earnest of seekers. This mindfulness retreat, at which you have the opportunity to practice enlightenment meditation, will ultimately reveal your true greatness to you. Are you ready to find your destiny?

The Opening, unlike the usual meditation retreats that you find elsewhere, is something so profound that in a matter of three days you can discover your true self. When you do, you will experience a pure, direct realization of the deep Truth of who you are and this will stay with you for the rest of your life. It is a truly beautiful and simple process, yet also a deeply mysterious experience. Are you ready for this life changing journey?

After our discussion, we made our way to the reception area to look for Mr Selva where he had arranged for us to have lunch with the General Manager in The Dining Room, the main Food &Beverage outlet of the hotel.

Mr Gopal, the GM of Summerset Resort for the past three months, met up with us and we spent an entertaining hour with him over lunch. A very experienced GM who has been in many leading 5-star hotels before taking on the challenge in Summerset Resort, he has managed to revamp his management team and has now a very customer oriented service team with him.

Lunch in The Dining Room

We enjoyed the fish curry, a most lovely Indian dish which is not too spicy. The curry gravy was just the right flavour and texture. There was also a chicken dish done Chinese style which gave the chicken a wonderful and light taste and it was not overdone so the meat was nice and tender. We also had some fried prawns and beansprouts. It was a great meal with great company. We even had the singing duo entertaining us with a few songs.

After lunch, we took a drive around the Resort and saw some eco villas and Summerset Camp, a National Service Training Camp. There are quite a number of activities that you can do to keep yourself occupied in this beautiful beach resort overlooking the South China Sea.

At first glance, we thought this was another horse. LOL

Another activity to occupy you

Swimming or playing in the sea

Or just strolling along the beach

Playing in the sand

Enjoying nature

Reflecting on the sparkles

Or simply looking out for the crabs

Thereafter, we proceeded back to the villa, carried on with more discussions on the awakening enlightenment meditation retreat before taking a break.

However, before we could take a rest, the staff from the portable toilet company called. He was supposed to meet us tomorrow morning but had come up all the way from Johor. We then decided to meet him today instead since he was already here and then he could do whatever he wanted after our meeting.

We met him in the lobby area and brought him to see the area we intended to put the portable toilets. After discussing whatever necessary arrangements for the retreat in November, he took his leave.

Following his departure, we proceeded to The Octopus, the largest function room in this Malaysia beach resort, which can seat 700 people theatre style and started arranging some of the chairs so that we would have a better idea of how the function room would look like when we do the set-up during the actual event in November.

Next, we met up with Mr Selva to discuss the various arrangements that we would require in November in greater detail for almost 2 ½ hours after which we went for a late dinner at Rompin River Seafood Restaurant, the very popular place with locals as well as Singaporeans, for fresh seafood.

Rompin River Seafood Restaurant

Even at 2100 hrs, we still had to wait to be seated, after which we waited for almost an hour before our dishes were ready. Weekends and Public Holidays are the busiest for this popular fresh seafood restaurant.

For tonight, we ordered the fried marmite crabs again, as well as the steamed fish. Today, we decided to try the sea bass. We also tried the recommendations for the fishball soup, four seasons’ vegetables and fried cuttlefish. The fried crabs served today were flower crabs instead of the mud crabs that we had yesterday. It is harder to eat flower crabs as the shell is more brittle and the flesh tends to stick to the shell. The fish balls were very fresh and homemade. You can tell by its smoothness and texture. The four seasons’ vegetable was friend in sambal chilli and had long beans, petai (a type of bitter bean), ladies finger and onions.

We were keen to order another dish of their fresh crabs but as they did not have any more mud crabs, we decided to order butter prawns instead. At the same, time, we also ordered a dish of sweet potato leaves fried with sambal as well as sambal petai.

Another absolutely delicious meal with great company! Including more than ten glasses of drinks, the total cost for this very filling and satisfying meal came up to just below RM200 (USD57).

Once we returned to the villa in Summerset Resort, we continued with more discussions regarding the awakening enlightenment meditation into the wee hours of the morning before going to bed. After the information we managed to retrieve from Mr Selva earlier, it seems that this is the place that we would be holding the retreat this coming November.

It was a very full day for us and we were glad that we had a most fulfilling meeting and discussion with the hotel management for our meditation retreat to be held in a few months’ time. At the same time, we thorough enjoyed our dinner at the fresh seafood restaurant and were lucky to have this restaurant located pretty close to this Malaysia beach resort. Summerset Resort is a great place to hold such meditation retreats and with the responsiveness of the management team, we were pretty sure that we had found the right place for the event.
