Malaysia Beach Resort – Summerset Resort Kuala Rompin 5th – 7th June 2009

Malaysia Beach Resort – Summerset Resort Kuala Rompin Day 1

The lovely beach

We left for Summerset Resort, a Malaysia beach resort in Rompin, Pahang, Malaysia at 1430 hrs after picking up our friends. This time we had a mission to accomplish. We were on the lookout for a venue to hold “The Opening”, an awakening enlightenment meditation retreat. We even managed to have some great seafood dinner and especially loved the steamed crabs as well as the sweet marmite fried crabs. If you are looking for a venue to have some team building fun or even have team building ideas such as types of games for team building, Summerset Resort might just be for you.

We cleared both sides of Woodlands Causeway by 1505 hrs. Managed to get onto Highway 3 after missing the first turning and it was basically all the way direct to the Malaysia beach resort. Highway 3 had a number of bends as well as little hills. Mostly it is a one-lane traffic and thus traffic can be a little slow especially if you have heavy vehicles in front.

Although we did not stop along the way, we only arrived at the Summerset Beach Resort in Kuala Rompin, Pahang, just before 1900 hrs. Here, we met up with Mr Selva, the Assistant Sales Manages, a very friendly person whom we found easy to work with. By the time we got to know Mr Selva and the property a little better, it was already after 2000 hrs. The efficient Mr Selva managed to get us a villa to check in even though they were experiencing high occupancy.

If you are looking for some fun and creative team building ideas, Summerset Resort has lots of them. They even have an events manager, Mr Aziz who basically takes care of all the activities and has lots of creative ideas.

Our villa was huge and spacious and comprised 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with outdoor shower, a kitchenette, a living room overlooking the ocean as well as a little cozy area. It was a great experience as we could even hear the sound of the waves. A wonderful place to spend with the family.

For dinner, we drove to Rompin River Seafood Restaurant, a great seafood restaurant, about 15 km from Summerset Resort. We ordered the steamed crabs, fried sambal (chilli) sotong (cuttlefish) with petai (a type of bean), sambal kangkong (chilli spinach), steamed prawns and steamed pomfret fish. As the crabs were so fresh and sweet, we ordered another dish of crabs, this time fried crabs with marmite. Although it is supposed to be marmite crabs, it tasted much better than the baked marmite crabs we had in Seremban as this fried crabs had some sweet sauce as well making it a great refreshing dish. The crabs were smaller and the flesh sweeter. A great choice! The steamed pomfret was huge and fleshy even though we had asked for a small dish. The fried sambal sotong with petai was wonderfully done. In fact, the food was superliciously great. A must-try if you are in the area. A meal for the four of us cost us RM166 (USD 47.20).

Almost full moon

You could even stay in Rompin River Chalet next door and go sport fishing or visit places of attractions such as the Endau-Rompin National Park or Tioman Island. Or you could have an experience staying in the Kelong (a form of offshore platform built predominantly with wood primarily for fishing purposes) Resort or go on a firefly tour. There are lots of things to do here.

After dinner, we went back to our villa in Summerset Resort and celebrated our friend’s birthday. It just so happened that her big day happened to fall exactly on this particular day.

Very happy birthday gal and hubby

The cake was going fast!

After enjoying the coffee marble cake that I had baked, we sat in the living room, listened to the sound of the waves and discussed the arrangements regarding the awakening enlightenment meditation program that we were working on.

As we were in Summerset Resort last October for T Harv Eker’s Enlightened Warrior Camp, we are able to see the change in this Malaysia beach resort where the upkeep of the place has improved and new landscaping is slowly being put into place. The new management team is now actively promoting team building fun and ideas and can even propose games for teambuilding if you so desire. Overall the place is getting more entertaining and lively with the singing duo that has been brought in. A new spa management will also be coming in and just yesterday, a horse and 2 ponies started to call Summerset Resort their home. Many interesting and exciting changes are expected in the coming months and this seems to be the ‘happening’ place to be in if you are looking at enjoying some beach fun or family time.

Soothing & relaxing

We were fortunate to be able to find the Rompin River Seafood Village Restaurant as this place is known for its fresh seafood. Fortunately for us, they were open today as they had been closed for the past three days. Hours of operation are from 1800 hrs – 0100 hrs.

Although just a short day in Malaysia for us, our first day in Summerset Resort, the Malaysia beach resort, we find that so many things are just falling into place so neatly. The fact that we found the wonderful seafood romp and had great seafood including the steamed crabs as well as the other really fresh seafood dishes made our day. In addition to that, being able to get along well with Mr Selva made our arrangements for the awakening enlightenment meditation program easier to handle. Although we did not need any team building fun ideas this round, at least we know where we can turn to in future especially if we are looking at holding games for team building sessions.
