Last Weekend Cruise To Nowhere on SuperStar Virgo 2/4 – 4/4/2010 Day 3

Easter Sunday! A great day to start the day on board the holiday cruise ship SuperStar Virgo. This happened to be the last Cruise to Nowhere by SuperStar Virgo in view of the fact that the two integrated resorts in Singapore has been officially opened, the Resorts World Sentosa as well as the Marina Bay Sands. In light of this, the regulars on the Cruise to Nowhere who happened to be casino diehards have another two more alternatives in terms of casinos where they can go and spend their time gambling.

We started the day with breakfast in Bella Vista Restaurant. The Asian breakfast special for the day was Kampong Fried Rice with Ikan Bilis (anchovies) and Egg. Or you could select the Western special. Continental breakfast is also available at the buffet counter.

Today the holiday cruise ship would be reaching Singapore only at noon. Thus, after breakfast, we went back to the cabin where we could see the approaching harbour.

We managed to snap some harbour images and Resorts World Sentosa, one of Singapore's integrated resort, before proceeding to gather at Noble House Restaurant, the holding area for VIP88 Platinum card members. We were allowed to disembark just before noon.

It was a breeze clearing the immigrations and customs as we were one of the first to disembark from SuperStar Virgo. This Good Friday cruise had been a memorable one as we went away with some winnings from the casino. What was even better was that we had been able to spend quality time together with the other family members which would not have been easy if we had been home.

Weekend Cruise To Nowhere On SuperStar Virgo 2nd Apr - 4th Apr 2010 Day 2

The second day on this weekend cruise to nowhere on board SuperStar Virgo holiday cruise ship turned out to be a great day. You have a choice of breakfast foods of a good variety at some of the outlets. If you would like some Chinese breakfast food, Pavilion Restaurant or Bella Vista would be your choice. For international breakfast food, you could visit Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant. If you prefer Western breakfast, then head on to Bella Vista where you can get your continental breakfast as well as ham and eggs.

We decided to head on to the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant for breakfast as we like the variety of breakfast food available. If you require halal or Indian vegetarian food, then the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant is the place to go to.

As usual, the bao or Chinese steamed buns were quite good. Today, it was the red bean bao. Filled with a good quantity of red bean paste, these steamed buns were just yummy. You could also have finger foods such as samosa (a fried or baked triangular pastry with a savoury filling), doughnuts, Danish pastry or if you prefer some Indian food such as vadai (a doughnut shaped Indian savoury snack) besides the normal choices.

Casanova, a Las Vegas-styled show, was on that night if you were interested in watching. There was a promotion in ticket prices.

After breakfast, we headed to The Royale Club, a casino for VIP88 members, on Deck 8 with the other group members. We decided to stay and try our hand at some mini Bacarat where we just followed our group on the bets. It was quite a good session with an amazing 16 ties occurring during the entire round.

The group members decided to quit during the second game when the going was not too good. We then headed to Blue Lagoon, a bistro outlet, since Mother was in a happy mood and wanted some ‘good’ food. We ordered some of the April promotional items such as the Herbal Duck Soup with Vermicelli, Pineapple Rice and Soto Ayam (a spicy chicken soup with noodles). The duck soup and pineapple rice were both tasty and appetizing. The soto ayam was not too bad except that it was served with egg and vermicelli which was unusual.

After lunch, Mother went back to the cabin to rest as she did not want to gamble in the casino on Deck 7 where she was not accustomed. Some of our group members then spent some time in the casino to gain some points on our Star Cruise VIP88 card as well as pass the time. The Casino was quite crowded especially at the table games.

For dinner, we headed to the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant but were disappointed that the outdoor BBQ party was cancelled due to the weather. At the same time since there was a long queue waiting to enter the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant, we decided to have some Chinese food at the Pavilion Restaurant.

Fortunately we managed to beat the queue and enjoyed the Chinese dinner. The Double Boiled Pork Ribs Soup with Lotus Roots and Peanuts was especially tasty as has always been the case. We enjoyed the other dishes as well which comprised the Deep-fried Prawn Dumpling with Mayonnaise Dressing, Fried Chicken Wings with Preserved Red Bean Curd Sauce, Steamed Fish with Bean Sauce, Stewed Pork Belly with Oyster and the Sauteed Garden Greens with Chinese Sausage. The lovely dinner ended with the Mixed Fresh Fruit Platter.

When dinner was over, we accompanied Mother back to the cabin and again some of our group members proceeded to the casino to continue where they had left off earlier and others stayed behind to keep Mother company and get her ready for bed.

It was an exciting day as we managed, on the whole, to gain some winnings on board this casino cruise. Seems like this last Cruise to Nowhere on board the holiday cruise ship, SuperStar Virgo was a ‘lucky’ cruise for us.

Last Weekend Cruise To Nowhere on SuperStar Virgo 2/4 – 4/4/2020

Coincidentally, 2nd April happens to be Good Friday. At the same time, it is also the last weekend cruise to nowhere on StarCruise Line SuperStar Virgo. This business decision was made with the opening of the Integrated Resorts in Singapore. No longer will SuperStar Virgo be known as the casino cruise it is popularly known as now especially during the weekends.

Being a public holiday due to Good Friday, we arrived at the Singapore Harbourfront Cruise Centre at 1730 hrs. Fortunately for us, we managed to get a car park lot as soon as we entered the carpark as there was a sign along the way indicating that the carpark in Harbourfront was full.

After checking in, we arranged for our luggage to be sent to our cabins and went to the food court in Harbourfront for a drink before going through customs and immigration. Upon boarding the holiday cruise ship, we headed directly to Deck 7 Grand Piazza for the welcome drinks before proceeding to the Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant for dinner.

With a passenger load of 2200, this holiday cruise ship was pretty full. We had to sit at the Mediterranean Terrace which is non air-conditioned. There was a wide range of food to choose from and the food standard was quite good.

After dinner, we found ourselves back in the cabin. 2000 hrs signaled the start of the Safety Drill, a compulsory safety exercise for all passengers. SuperStar Virgo set sail just before 2100 hrs.

Once Mother was all settled into bed, our group proceeded to the casino. With only one table for Casino War, it was over-crowded and we decided to hit the jackpot instead for awhile before retiring for the night.

So ended Day 1 on board the Cruise To Nowhere. For future weekend cruises on this holiday cruise ship SuperStar Virgo, there would be stopovers in Malaysia instead of just cruising in international waters. Since the casino can only operate in international waters, this will no longer be a wholly casino cruise as it has been during the weekends for the past few years.

CNY Cruise To Nowhere Day 3

SuperStar Virgo Spring Festival Cruise To Nowhere

As the saying goes, time always flies when you are enjoying yourself. Today is already the third day on board the holiday cruise ship SuperStar Virgo on a Cruise To Nowhere and after breakfast, we would be expecting to arrive in Singapore at approximately 1100 hrs. It had been fun aboard this casino cruise where someone was lucky enough to hit the jackpot yesterday.

We went to Bella Vista once again to enjoy the breakfast there. As usual, we sat at the Western section and could choose either Western or Asian breakfast. The Western Special was Classic French Toast with Maple Syrup and the Asian Special Fried Spicy Noodles with Chicken Meat.

You could also help yourself to the Continental Breakfast Buffet comprising items from the bakery including croissants, Danish pastry, bread and muffins, selection of cereals with milk and yoghurt as well as fruits, cheese and cold cuts.

A new casino game

After the heavy breakfast, we decided to head to Noble House Restaurant to await disembarkation. This venue is especially for Platinum Card Holders. Rather than contacting Reception Counter for help with Mother’s wheelchair, or even waiting at the wheelchair disembarkation area, we decided to get Mother to walk a little as we had experienced the last few times where wheelchair passengers were the last to be allowed to disembark. That caused part of our group members who had already disembarked to wait almost an hour for Mother in the wheelchair.

Doing so this way as in getting Mother to walk a short distance, we managed to clear customs and immigration before 1100hrs. That was very good timing indeed!

This Chinese New Year Cruise To Nowhere was a fun weekend for our family members where we could enjoy the various Chinese New Year decorations as well as celebrate the Spring Festival on board the holiday cruise ship SuperStar Virgo. At the same time, those members who wanted their fun time in the casino managed to do so on board this casino cruise as well.
