Day 2 of our Malaysia trip to Fraser's Hill started off with us enjoying the sunrise. This made a beautiful impact in our holidays to Malaysia. We also managed to get some pretty interesting photos of one of Malaysia resorts here in Fraser's Hill, had English tea and scones at The Smokehouse Hotel and Restaurant and ended off the day snapping some beautiful sunset images as well as having a leisurely steamboat dinner after visiting the waterfall. We woke up at 0600 hrs to experience more of the cool air and quiet of the early morning. Managed to capture some sunrise images as well.

We took a stroll around the area soaking up the refreshing landscape of the Titiwangsa Range, Malaysia's core mountainous range. A lovely and tranquil place for a perfect highlands holiday with natural serene ambience, Fraser's Hill makes an excellent getaway at 4,100 ft above sea level. Fifteen years ago, you might have been able to experience the very cool air up here but today, it is not much different from an air-conditioned room due to the way the Malaysia climate has been affected by the global warming as well.

Breakfast was served between 0800 hrs to 1000 hrs. You could help yourself with the bread that was laid on the table. A plated breakfast of bread, sausages, fried egg and baked beans was then served.

We met up with Maya, Manager of Silverpark Resort, to discuss the venue arrangements for the awakening enlightenment meditation retreat and had a fruitful session. We found her to be very approachable and easy to work with.

After meeting up with Maya, we drove to the town centre and decided to have lunch at Shahzan's Inn. We went to the coffee house and ordered Daging Merah (beef dish), Nasi Kampung Merak (fried rice with chicken and satay) and Curry Noodle. The food was not too bad although a bit on the pricey side.

We then decided to go to Jeriau Waterfalls and drove there. The sun was pretty hot although it was not humid. We did not go into the water as there were quite a number of people there and we were not prepared to get ourselves wet.

From Jeriau Waterfall, we proceeded to The Smokehouse Hotel and Restaurant for their traditional English tea and scones. At the same time, we also ordered the choc lava cake. The Smokehouse Hotel and Restaurant evokes all the charm of the English countryside. The scones are served with cream and strawberry jam and tasted just perfect. The choc lava cake was just the right texture and a great temptation. We were tempted to order more of the choc lava cake but for the fact that we would be having a steamboat dinner soon. We had a leisurely tea, relaxing to the soothing sounds of nature, peace and tranquility as we had our tea in the gardens and watching monkeys and birds go by.

Before heading back to Silverpark Resort, we drove by Pines Resort, another of the Malaysia resorts on Fraser's Hill, to take a look at the area to see if that venue would be able to fit our requirements. To our surprise, we found the place to be a very busy place, too busy for what we were looking for. Thus, we decided that we would not require to meet up with the managers at Pines Resort the next day and cancelled the appointment.

Spent some time back at the Silverpark Resort apartment and managed to snap quite a few eye-catching sunset images before we went for a late steamboat dinner.

Once again. dinner saw us back at Shahzan's Inn at Lela Manja Restaurant. Although it was stated as a buffet steamboat dinner at RM28++, we were given a specific portion of food. Food was reasonable. We just enjoyed ourselves chatting and soaking in the atmosphere.

By the time we got back to our accommodation for the night, it was already after 2200 hrs. We discussed a bit of arrangements for The Opening before retiring for the night.

Holidays To Malaysia - Fraser's Hill 8th May - 10th May 2009

Fraser’s Hill Day 1

Beginning another of our short holidays to Malaysia, we were headed for one of the lesser known Malaysia attractions this time round. Here we would also be able to experience staying in one of the Malaysia resorts located in the area.

We left our home at 0945hrs to pick up our friend and by the time we cleared the customs and immigrations at Tuas on both sides of the 2nd Link, it was already 1100hrs. This week, we were heading towards Fraser’s Hill Silverpark Resort to look out for a venue to hold the awakening enlightenment meditation.

After approximately 3 ½ hrs later, we turned off at the Rawang exit, took a fifteen minute break and topped up petrol at the same time. Although this route was slightly congested, it took us about an hour and a half to get to The Gap, a one-way road, which is approximately 8km from the top of Fraser’s Hill. This scenic, narrow and winding road allows uphill traffic every odd hour, and downhill every even hour, from 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs.

As we reached The Gap at 1630 hrs, we had a half an hour break before driving up to the top of Fraser’s Hill at 1700 hrs. It took us approximately 20 minutes to reach to the top of the hill. Although there are a few Malaysia resorts on Fraser's Hill, we chose Silverpark Resort as our accommodation. It took us another 10 minutes to reach Silverpark Resort Fraser’s Hill, our destination for the night.

After checking in at the Resort into a 2-bedroom apartment, we took some time to check out the acommodation as well as enjoy the inspirational mountain views.

We then took a drive back into town and ended up at Arzed’s Café, a little sidewalk café by the roadside. We ordered the Nasi paprik, spicy chicken with plain rice, the Nasi Daging Merah, which tasted more like pepper beef, as well as the Nasi Goreng Kampung, Kampung style fried rice. They all tasted good and cost us less than RM22 for 3 persons. Very good value for money and great if you are looking for cheap holidays. Malaysia has lots to offer if you know where to look for them.

After dinner, we took a walk at the Clock Tower whilst enjoying the cool and crisp highland air. Next to the Clock Tower is the Fraser's Hill Golf Course. Close by is the police station and the mini mart.

We realized that the Malaysia climate here has been affected greatly by the global warming which has become a real threat to the environment. This wonderful & tranquil Malaysia attraction is no longer as cool as it was 15 years ago and temperature now ranges from 16 degrees to 24 degrees Celcius.

A number of places like The Gap Resthouse, Allan Water, the Fraser’s Hill Golf Country Club, etc are all currently under renovation as it is currently not the peak season.

We had an early night as this is an area where you can just enjoy the peace and tranquility and experience a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

It looks like this is a great place for us to hold the awakening enlightenment meditation retreat. Plus the participants will also get to enjoy staying in one of the Malaysia resorts and attractions and experience the hospitality of the Malaysians, although not being able to experience the cooler Malaysia climate.
