The Angkor Night Market is Siem Reap's first and origial night market. Located in the heart of town, the night market in Siem Reap was established in 2007.

The Siem Reap night market is very popular and even if you are on a Siem Reap tour, you would very likely visit the area. This is on the list of 'must visit' attractions in Siem Reap.

The market is open from mid-afternoon till almost midnight.
You can find more than two hundred thatch roofed shops and stalls offering all sorts of souvenirs from traditional Cambodian made handicrafts such as scarves, silk, painting, jewelries and various wood and stone carvings.

Holiday Travel Tips:
There is a huge difference between what they charge the locals compared to the tourists. As such, you would do well to negotiated the prices before buying. :D Have some fun testing your skills here and they would normally bring the price down a little depending on your bargaining skills.
If you wish to experience some of the Siem Reap nightlife, do visit the night market. Next to it is the Pub Street Siem Reap where you will be spoilt for choice with Asian as well as International food and drinks.

Holiday Travel Tips:-
As there are many stalls selling very similar items, check out the price range before buying. If you wish to get good prices, do not rush in to buy at the very first stall that you stop at.

The Siem Reap Old Market, also known as Phsar Chas, although pretty similar to the Angkor Night Market, is another good place for bargain buys. We somehow found it easier to find what we wanted at the Old Market which we visited in the afternoon after one our Siem Reap tour.

If you are looking for something to eat, head over to Pub Street Siem Reap, just next to the Angkor night market.

We decided to have our dinner at the 8th Street Siem Reap the first night we were there.

Very reasonably priced for a tourist area, our dinner at 8th Street Siem Reap comprising 2 lime juice, Chicken Amok and Chicken with Basil Leaf cost us USD8.75.

On our second night at the Angkor night market, we were undecided as to where to have our dinner. Whilst shopping around, we went up to the second floor where Kitchen Angkor Chey was and we thought the pricing was a little steep as compared to 8th Street Siem Reap. We decided to check out another food outlet when the staff offered us USD2 for every dish. WOW! That was a pretty good discount and we grabbed it. :D
Kitchen Angkor Chey is situated at Street Sivotha, behind Cambodia Commercial Bank. They even conduct cooking classes if you are keen.

After a few hours of shopping for bargains, you can pamper yourself at one of the many Siem Reap massage kiosks at very cheap rates...

At the Deja Vu Angkor Massage, where we enjoyed a 30 minutes foot massage at USD1, we were also able to enjoy a cultural Khmer performance as in the picture below.

Or if you prefer, you can try the Dr Fish massage. This is where they have garra rufa fish in a tank and you dip your feet in so that the fish will nibble off all the dead cells of your foot. Not for the ticklish...
There are many tuk tuk drivers waiting for business and it is easy to make your way back to your accommodation. According to our hotel receptionist, it would cost about USD4 back to the hotel from the night market in Siem Reap which was what the tuk tuk driver asked for on the first day we were there.

On the second night, a young tuk tuk driver who said that he had just collected his tuk tuk that very day charged us USD3 for the ride back from the Siem Reap night market to our accommodation. We must have been most fortunate. :D
So if you are in Cambodia, be it on a Siem Reap tour or on your own, do make it a point to visit the Angkor night market as well as the popular Pub Street Siem Reap and not forgetting the Siem Reap old market if you have time. You will be able to find lots of souvenirs and get some good prices, though these are definitely not the high end goods.
