The Roots Resort Ipoh |
The Roots Ipoh is a brand new eco resort near Tanjung Rambutan area in perak. Located at the base of the Kinta Hiills, this eco resort is unique in that it was built with minimal disruption to the environment which can be seen in the orchard where fruit bearing trees such as durians, mangoes, guavas, star fruits, rambutans, etc are in abundance even though this resort is just about two to three years old.
|
Starfruit |
Pity it was not the fruit season and we were not able to see the fruits in full bloom.
Holiday Travel Tips:-
According to Meena the owner, the best time to see the fruits and maybe even partake of the output is in December.
|
Guava |
Minimising the
impact on natural resources, the management of the Roots Resort Ipoh
recycles organic waste to use as fertilizers for the fruit orchard.

Very interesting tree house |
If
you are adventurous, you can rent the all terrain vehicle (ATV) and
plough through the jungle trail which takes you past Orang Asli (local
Malaysian tribesmen) settlements where you can experience their
lifestyle.

If
you have a small group, you can get the resort to organise a guide to
bring you Jungle Trekking to a remote Orang Asli village on the mountain
through a short jungle trek and suspension bridge over a breathtaking
river with rapids where you can even take a dip.

Or
you could just stay in the resort and relax at the gazebos, enjoy a
barbeque whilst taking in the view of the Kinta River or wait for the
durians to fall... :D Watch for the otters swimming down the river and
if you are lucky, you will be able to spot them.
Holiday Travel Tips:-
We
heard the otters but did not get to see them as the very human friendly
Quentin makes sure that the otters do not get into the resort to make
use of the pool facility.

Gazebos to relax |
Take
a leisurely swim in the 30 metre pool or make use of the full-size
outdoor court for a game of badminton, volleyball, basketball or sepak
takraw (also known as kick volleyball where a rattan ball is used).
Another option is to just laze on one of the hammocks that you find in
the eco resort.

We were woken up in the morning by the chirping of the birds. A nice sound indeed.
Holiday Travel Tips:-
If you are into bird watching, do bring along your binoculars so that you can have a close up view of the various birds.

A great place to relax and rejuvenate, we fully enjoyed our time at the Roots Ipoh eco resort which we feel is a great Ipoh accommodation.
