Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant |
Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant (simplified Chinese: 南翔馒头店; traditional Chinese: 南翔饅頭店; pinyin: nánxiáng mántóu diàn) is a traditional Shanghai eatery established in 1900 and recently expanded internationally, with branches in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and even Singapore.

With the Shanghai branch experiencing long queues for its takeaways, our friend Steven brought us to the restaurant whilst we were in Hong Kong to try the famed xiaolongbao. These xiaolongbao are soup dumplings traditionally filled with either meat or seafood and with solid meat aspic wrapped inside the skin together with the filling. This gelatin-gelled aspic then melts into soup when steamed.

Puff pastry with cashew nuts |
The puff pastry with cashew nuts was really good. It was unique with its pastry topped with black sesame seeds and filled with cashew nuts on the inside. A must try!
