Malaysia Vacation – Berjaya Hills and Genting Highlands Day 3

Today we’ll be having a full day in Genting Highlands and enjoying the cool crisp mountain air here in this Genting Highlands resort accommodation. Genting is well-known as a casino resort and theme park entertainment spot and there are fewer highlands flowers to admire, unlike Berjaya Hills. However, it is a great highlands holiday location for a Malaysia vacation. If you do not wish to spend too much on your accommodation, opt for the First World Genting Hotel.

Highlands Hotel - another casino resort. Highlands Hotel, a 5-star hotel, can only be redeemed with Genting points. The Genting Skyway station is located here.

We slept in till 1000 hrs and went to First World Plaza to have dim sum (traditional Chinese cuisine where small portions of a variety of food are served) brunch. However the service was slow and by the time we wanted to place our orders, we could no longer order dim sum as that was available only till 1100 hrs.

Instead we went to Marrybrown, a Malaysian fast food franchise not unlike the all famous MacDonalds, for breakfast. We tried the fish fillet burger as well as the kari mee ayam goreng (fried chicken curry noodles) combo and an iced Milo. For the iced Milo, they did not ask what size we wanted and just gave us a ‘large’ order. Total cost for breakfast was RM21.20 (USD6.20) after 10% discount by producing the WorldCard. The quality of the breakfast was just average.

After breakfast, we explored the area further. Temperature today was a cooling 17 degrees Celsius or 62 degrees Fahrenheit. We passed by the bus station where you could get a bus from Genting Highlands to Singapore from RM40 (USD11.70) upwards.

We also had a nice vantage point view of the Flying Coaster where you could enjoy a thrilling ride at RM10 (USD2.90) per person.

Next, we went to Starbucks Coffee to get a drink as well as avail ourselves to the online access since free Wifi is available. Unfortunately, Starbucks experienced a power failure and internet access was interrupted. However we managed to download our photos and videos that we had taken.

1600 hrs – we moved off from Starbucks and walked outside for a short while to enjoy the 150C (590F) weather. Cool, crisp and refreshing mountain air, something we could never enjoy in tropical Singapore. This is one of the main reasons why we love visiting Genting Highlands.

Dinner saw us at Market Food Street in First World Plaza enjoying the Chicken rice at RM11.90 ++ (USD3.50) per person. The chicken rice was accompanied with iced lemon tea. It was very tasty and fragrant. Such a delight!

At 2030 hrs, we proceeded to Genting International Showroom to watch Dazzle, an hour’s long show which starts at 2100 hrs. We found the show to be very entertaining as well as worth the money. Ticket prices range from RM60 (USD17.50) – RM90 (USD26.25). Check out the Dazzle video capture preview.

After the show, since we were in a casino resort, we spent some time in the casino having some fun and excitement before retiring for the night.

Before we knew it, another day has passed us by. This Malaysia vacation has proven to be a great and relaxing vacation, especially up here in Genting Highlands with its casino resort. Our Genting resort accommodation, First World Genting Hotel, was nothing to rave about since it served its purpose of a clean and comfortable room to rest for the night. Other than that, either enjoy the great and refreshing cool weather up here or relive your childhood days once again at the theme parks.
