The famed Singapore laksa (dish as seen in the picture) is of Peranakan origin, born from the intermarriage of Chinese and Malay cultures. It has a rich coconut gravy that embodies the Peranakan's love for spicy, full-bodied flavours.
The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore contains more species of tree than the entire North American continent. Although it is a small 1.64 square kilometer (410 acre) nature reserve located on the slopes of Bukit Timah Hill and parts of the surrounding area, it is considered one of the most productive pieces of nature. Together with the neighbouring Central Catchment Nature Reserve, it houses over 840 species of flowering plants and over 500 species of fauna. Today, it is one of the largest patches of primary rainforest left in Singapore.
