This extraordinary statue is also known as Tian Tan Buddha because its
base is modeled on the Altar of Heaven or Earthly Mount of Tian Tan.
One of the five large Buddha statues in China, the Giant Buddha Hong
Kong is 34 metres (112 ft) tall and was the world's tallest outdoor
bronze seated Buddha prior to 2007, with a reputation of being able to
be seen as far away as Macau on a clear day.
