Vaduz - Liechtenstein

The tiny little town of Vaduz is the capital of Leichsteinten.  We were fortunate to have had the chance to stop by Vaduz on the way from Austria to Lucerne.

On the way to Vaduz, we passed by Hotel Post.

Here we see Castle Vaduz, the residence of the Prince of Leichtenstein.  Also known as Schloss Vaduz, the palace overlooks the town of Vaduz from the hilltop.  Since Castle Vaduz is not open to the public, we only managed to see its magnificence from afar.

We learn that this is a tax free principality. A very small area, we passed by the town hall and spent some time shopping for watches and souvenirs.

Even though Vaduz is one of the very few capital cities in the world without an airport or railway station, Vaduz has a lively tourist industry.
