Poh San Teng Temple - Malacca Attraction

Located at the foot of Bukit Cina in Malacca, Po San Teng is a temple to pray for the souls of the China traders who were in Malacca for business in the early years. This can be seen in the fact that Bukit Cina is the largest Chinese cemetery with about 12,000 graves, some of them dating back as far as the Ming dynasty. Interestingly, it has the distinction of being the largest Chinese cemetery outside China. Being a graveyard temple, Po San Teng's interior is simple.

Po San Teng literally translates as "Precious Hill Temple" and is dedicated to the deity, Tua Pek kong. The name of the temple is inscribed on a 1795 tablet and can be seen above the front door of the temple. Adjacent to the temple is the Rajah Perigi (Sultan's Well), also known as Hang Li Poh's well, which is one of the more well-known Malacca attractions.
