If you are in Malacca, you should try the chicken rice balls which Malacca is well-known for. Made from Hainan chicken rice, these chicken rice balls are shaped into small balls, not unlike the ping pong balls and golf balls. At RM0.20 (USD0.07) per rice ball, these are really cute, but can be quite heavy.

Chicken rice balls (right), boiled chicken (top) and vegetables (left) goes well with the pounded chilli

Yummy yummy... Note that during weekends and public holidays, you will not be able to order only the rice balls... They will give you your order together with normal chicken rice

Boiled chicken goes well with the Hainanese chicken rice. Well flavoured, the chicken is nicely cooked though some parts are not as tender as we would have like it to be. Half a chicken costs RM15 (USD4.82) and would be just nice for 3 - 4 persons.

Lotus root soup. At RM1.80 (USD0.58) per bowl, the soup is really value for money with lots of ingredients as can be seen in the picture. And tastes good too!

As Hoe Kee is made up of 3 shoplot units, this is just one of the seating areas

You cannot miss the restaurant which is at one end of Jonker Street, the place every tourist goes to. If you have not gone to Jonker Street, you have not gone to Malacca. :P
