Genting Malaysia, KL & Malacca 4th July – 7th July 2010

Making the journey up to Genting Highlands at 1850 hrs from Orchid Country Club where we were attending a seminar by Patric Chan, an internet marketer. We had originally wanted to leave in the morning, but due to the seminar being held on this day, we decided to leave in the afternoon. However as Patric Chan was giving so much important information, we could not bear to leave till it was after 1830 hrs when we had no choice but to leave, as it would be after midnight before we arrived at our destination.

Making our way to the second link at Tuas checkpoint, we managed to clear both the custom and immigration at both Singapore and Malaysia by 1840 hrs. Thus began our drive to Genting Highlands Resort in Malaysia.

R&R at Machap

We stopped by Machap R&R at approximately 2000 hrs to have dinner. This was the first time we stopped by Machap and we were pleasantly surprised to find the public restrooms very clean and dry.

Going up the escalator, we ate at the air-conditioned food court and ordered roti canai telur (Indian flatbread with egg) as well as dried bee hoon (Malay style noodles) and rice with chicken and curry. The roti canai telur was good and at RM1.50 (USD0.48), it was very good value for money. The rice with the dishes was extremely good, especially the lamb curry.

After dinner, we adjourned to Baskin Robbins for ice cream dessert. That was a good way to end off our meal. We continued our drive to Genting, Malaysia.

Fortunately the weather up in Genting Highlands, 2000 metres above sea level, was nice and clear, without any mist and fog, thus making our way up to Genting Malaysia a nice and easy drive.

Theme Park Hotel Reception

Our friends stayed in Theme Park Hotel where you can get a deluxe room for USD71. By the time we dropped them off at their hotel, it was already after 0100 hrs. Next we drove to First World Hotel where we checked into our room and made our way to the casino to spend some time before retiring for the night.

It was our good fortune to enjoy a smooth journey all the way up to Genting Highlands Resort where we were greeted with lovely cool weather. A great weekend getaway!
