9th Dec 2009 Day 4 Wednesday
Beautiful Genting Highlands shrouded in clouds
Today, the fourth day of our Malaysia vacation to Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands, we would be making our way down from the resort, Genting Highlands, and returning back to Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur, our accommodation whilst in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. This gave us an opportunity to do more Malaysia shopping and see the gaily decorated artificial Christmas trees and Christmas decor in the shopping centre.
Since check out time was 12 noon, we had made arrangements with the van driver to pick us up at 12 noon. Thus, we had a bit of time to spare in the morning.
As we had 2 good days in the casino whilst in this popular Malaysia casino resort, we decided to try our luck again on the third day. Once again, we were very fortunate and managed to have a good day today. As long as you are not greedy and know when to stop, it is alright to have a bit of fun at the jackpot machines once in awhile.
Check out time was 12 noon and upon checkout, the van driver was there waiting to pick us up and drive us back to our KL accommodation Hotel Capitol once again. On the way down from Genting Highlands, we stopped by at Gohtong Jaya, a small township located halfway down the mountain from the casino resort.
The shop in Gohtong Jaya where we did our purchases
You can find a few restaurants here in Gohtong Jaya
Durians and other fruits as well
We bought some local products at one of the shops there. The chicken biscuit was especially tasty and we bought a dozen bottles at a discounted price of RM14 (USD4.05) each. We then continued our journey to Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur where we arrived at approximately 1330 hrs.
Sights on the way back to our KL hotel
As check-in time is officially at 1400 hrs, we only managed to get one room ready. So we placed our luggage into the room that was ready and went across the street to U-Village in Sungei Wang Plaza to have lunch. The food prices in U-Village were quite reasonable and you could order a set lunch for just RM11.90 (USD3.45) where you get a main dish, a soup and a drink. You could choose from a variety of dishes including rice, noodles and meat.

The BBQ pork is specially made and tasted good although with lots of fat. Overall, food was above average and prices very reasonable. The total food bill for the 8 of us came up to RM144, good value for money.

After lunch, we went back to Hotel Capitol to collect the other 3 room keys before splitting up to go our separate ways. We could see the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower from our room on the ninth floor of the KL Hotel.

All of us ended up in Sungei Wang Plaza and Bukit Bintang Plaza shopping.

We regrouped at 1800 hrs for dinner and proceeded to Jalan Alor Lim Kee Restaurant. This time round, we tried another group of food stalls. Some of the dishes ordered included bak kut teh (pork rib soup), prawn noodles, hor fun (rice noodles) and some vegetables and deer meat.

The local Malaysian food here was just as tasty and the total bill came up to RM108.59 (USD31.55) for the 8 of us, more reasonable prices than the first day when we were at another shop.

After dinner, we did some shopping along Jalan Alor and again in Bukit Bintang Plaza before most called it a day.

However, hubby and I decided to go for a foot reflexology session. We walked along the main road of Jalan Bukit Bintang where there were many foot reflexology parlours and ended up at Good Friends. We decided to take the 45 minute foot reflexology at RM40 (USD11.65) per person. It was quite soothing and they even had a little back and shoulder massage at the end of the session.

We then realized that if we had come in by the back door, it was just a few steps away from our KL hotel accommodation for the night and need not have walked a huge circle.
An interesting day was this second last day of our Malaysia vacation. We came down from the integrated resort, better known as a casino resort, Genting Highlands, Malaysia’s only casino resort and made a short stop in Gohtong Jaya for some shopping before going back to Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur, our KL hotel for the night. More Malaysia shopping was done before we end our Malaysia vacation tomorrow. Plus we enjoyed admiring the various Christmas decor and gaily decorated artificial Christmas trees in the shopping centres. Not forgetting filling our stomachs with the local food of Malaysia.

Good stuff for enjoying the sights, food and experiences of Kuala Lumpur. But after all the good eating and walking around, take time to visit the wonderful jungle waterfalls and hiking trails just outside the city for wildlife and relaxation.
