Malaysia Vacation – One Week In Kuala Lumpur Day 3

22 Nov – Day 3

Today being a Sunday, we somehow also tended to laze around and spent the third day of our Malaysia vacation waking up late. We had two places where we would like to visit. One was to Café Passion, our friend’s café in Bandar Mahkota Cheras and the other was one of the Malaysia attractions, Putrajaya Malaysia, the administrative capital of Kuala Lumpur. We also hoped to spend some time in our resort, Palace of the Golden Horses and admire the beautiful and serene grounds here in the resort.

Passion Cafe

We made use of our Garmin global positioning system to direct us to Café Passion since we were not familiar with the roads in Malaysia. A small café with cozy ambience for a quick bite at very reasonable prices owned by Fong and Jacey, you will be greeted with Marilyn Monroe paraphernalia. If you are a Marilyn Monroe fan, you can get to see some pictures of the late American actress, singer and model here in the café. Marilyn Moroe was ranked as the sixth greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute back in 1999. You can also get free wifi internet access.

Boasting not only local food of Malaysia, the menu also includes some Western dishes such as fish and chips and chicken chops as well as Italian spaghetti carbonara. With a splendid array of choices for your taste bud, you will find some special ‘desserts of the day’ such as deep fried fruit rolls as well as durian pancake.

Passion Cafe

For lunch, we ordered the Tom Yam Fried Rice as well as the Pineapple Fried Rice. You can let them know if you prefer the food to be mild or spicy and they will customize it for you. With prices ranging from RM2 to RM12, you will be spoiled for choice.

Jacey is forever experimenting with new dishes and soon will be adding more new dishes to the menu. We were fortunate to try out the durian pancake as well as the durian and cempedak fruit roll. The durian pancake was really good as the crepe was smooth and thin and the durian filling was just nice, as good as what they serve in hotels and high class restaurants but at much affordable prices. The fruit rolls was something different as they were deep fried, warm on the outside and cold on the inside. This is a dish you must experience.

Whilst sitting and watching the traffic go by, we spotted a delivery van with the following text. See if you can spot the mistakes... :) Same van, but different wordings on the side and the back!

We left Café Passion to make our way to Putrajaya, Malaysia’s multimedia corridor, at 1845 hrs. By the time we arrived at this Malaysia attraction, Putrajaya, it was already dark. Even with the poor lighting at that time, there was striking evidence of the many architectural marvels which abound in this new city.

The striking bridges

Building across the lake

Putrajaya sits on a magnificent 4,931 hectares spread. It is designed to take full advantage of the natural surroundings which is enhanced by large bodies of water and wetlands. Built on an expansive marshland and former oil palm estate in Selangor, the city lies 25 km from Kuala Lumpur. Putrajaya takes over the administrative functions of the capital city Kuala Lumpur and is part of the Multimedia Super Corridor project of the Malaysian government.

ToyCity in Allamanda

We ended up at Allamanda, a new shopping area in Putrajaya, Malaysia, where Parkson and Carrefour can be found. One of the newest shopping and lifestyle malls in Malaysia, we managed to get some Christmas shopping done before returning to our resort, Palace of the Golden Horses for the night. Unfortunately we did not have much time in the resort but managed to listen to the live band in the Grand Salon.
