Wingspread House by Frank Lloyd Wright

Wingspread House
Wingspread House was a family home that third generation SC Johnson leader H.F. Johnson Jr. commissioned with Frank Lloyd Wright, a radical designer and architect, in 1936. This home was aptly named Wingspread as it has four wings that spread out from the central living area.

Wright designed chairs - these can also be seen in the SC Johnson Administrative Building…
The original Frank Lloyd Wright designed chairs had three legs but as you can imagine, they were not practical and thus were later fitted with four legs.

If you would like to visit and admire the famed Frank Lloyd Wright architecture of the Wingspread House that is now designated as a National Historic Landmark, you can do so.  However, they do not entertain walk ins and you will need to make an appointment.  Best to reserve early as these free tours do get fully booked.

You might like to also include a visit to the nearby Wing Point Lighthouse or to SC Johnson Administrative Building, another Frank Lloyd Wright design.
