The Eiffel Tower, France, Paris

The Eiffel Tower, France Paris

Eiffel Tower, France, Paris

Interestingly, the most prominent symbol of France and Paris, the Eiffel Tower, France Paris almost did not make it to current times.  Standing at 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair.  The Tower was much criticised by the public and many called it an eyesore.

There was a permit for the Tower to stand for 20 years, though when it came time to be dismantled in 1909,  the Tower was allowed to remain after the expiry of the permit as it proved valuable for communication purposes.

Today, the Tower is widely considered to be a striking piece of structural art.  With three levels for visitors, you need to purchase ticket to ascend the Tower.  Of note, the Eiffel Tower received its 200,000,000th guest on 28 November 2002.  As per Wiki, the Eiffel Tower is the most-visited paid monument in the world.

Holiday Travel Tips:-
Our tour manager showed us a few ways to get some great shots of the Eiffel Tower as can be seen below...

By the way, if you are feeling hungry or would like to take your time to soak in the view from the Eiffel Tower, you can do so at either of the two restaurants there.

One of the most memorable events of your stay in Paris is to catch the tower in illumination at night for approximately eight to ten minutes on the hour.  This was really beautiful and eye-catching.
