Volendam is a popular tourist attraction in the Netherlands, well-known for its old fishing boats and the traditional clothing still worn by some residents. The women's costume of Volendam, with its high, pointed bonnet, is one of the most recognizable of the Dutch traditional costumes, and is often featured on tourist postcards and posters.
Volendam is about thirty minutes from Amsterdam by bus.
In Volendam, you will find a very quaint fishing village with picturesque Dutch houses. Here we had a 3 course fish meal at Restaurant DeKoe TeaRoom.

We had time to shop for souvenirs and it would have been more memorable to take a souvenir picture wearing their traditional Volendam clothes, but as we were indulging in shopping for souvenirs for our family and friends, we did not have time to do so.

Holiday Travel Tips:-
From our experience, in the whole of Europe, prices in Volendam seems to be the most reasonable. Thus, we managed to buy quite a few items here.
After lunch, we walked around the quaint little town and were greeted with lovely houses where you could tell that the owners were very proud of.

Holiday Travel Tips:-
A tradition in Volendam is to eat herrings with vodka! It was absolutely out of this world… ☺ This is a must-try when you are here.
