Venetian Masks

Whilst we were on our Venice day tour during our recent Europe vacation package, we had the opportunity to visit several souvenir stalls though several of them were starting to close at 1800 hrs during winter. Interestingly we saw various types of beautiful and multi-coloured Venetian masks on sale.





Holiday travel tips:-
If you are visiting during winter and wish to do some serious shopping, do give yourself some time and start your shopping in the early afternoon as most shops start to close around 1700 hrs.

According to Wiki, these Venetian masks are a centuries-old tradition of Venice, Italy. These masks may be just eye masks or full-face masks and commonly worn during the Carnival of Venice. As legend would have it, these masks made for some romantic encounters as well...
